Stamp an image twice with contrasting ink shades to create shadows and highlights. Stamp the image with lighter ink first. Then, lightly apply the darker ink to the stamp to create a shadow effect and allow the lighter color to show through. Stamp the image again.
Before pitching all the catalogs you are receiving in the mail this holiday season, recycle them! Use a magazine for the background when applying glue and/or using a tape runner. Lay the piece facedown on the opened magazine and then apply the glue and/or tape. After both pages of the magazine have been used this way, turn the page. This keeps the glue and/or tape from getting onto the surface of the next piece.
Crumpling tags and/or cardstock before applying (dye) inks helps distribute the wet dyes into the "crinkles". Ironing the inked tag/cardstock will help smooth the surface for even stamping. You can also spray the inked crumpled tag with water letting the ink run over the tag and/or cardstock. Iron to smooth the surface for even stamping.
